A month on from Lockdown ...

It has been good to be able to give all our children access to school since 1st June and to welcome many others whose parents, whilst loving them dearly of course, have been fairly happy for us to take care of them from 8.30 to 3.00 every day. And some thought home-schooling was an easy option … !

Given the limit of 15 children per “bubble”, we are fast approaching our limits now, and only have a very few places left. Hopefully, these restrictions will be lifted in time for September and we will be able to open the school to even more children.

With sensible social distancing in line with our Coronavirus Policy, we are still able to arrange visits to the school and, as we speak, parents have three options:

  • Sign up for our Summer School (10-21 August) - an opportunity for catch-up after Lockdown

  • If children are not currently at school, the idea of their spending the last couple of weeks with us might be appealing - if that is of interest, be aware that we are down to the last few places, so act quickly

  • Permanent enrolment is, of course, always an option and we have spaces in most year groups for next year, subject to the removal of the current restrictions.

For further information on those options, please email Louise Edwards on admin@igsdurham.com.

Many parents ask about future plans. Subject to obtaining DfE approval, we will grow to accommodate Years Seven and Eight very soon, so intend to allow our children to move seamlessly into what is commonly known as “senior” or “secondary” school. At IGS: Durham, that move will be as painless as it can be: the same classmates, the same classrooms and even in some cases the same teacher(s).
