We had the pleasure of being selected on Friday for a spot check carried out by the Health and Safety Executive. Mr Michael Kingston, one of the HSE’s HMIs (Her Majesty’s Inspectors), spent a couple of hours in school, checking our procedures, policies and protocols and I am pleased to report that we emerged with flying colours on all criteria.
The Inspector was particularly complementary about our decision (made with the DfE’s assistance) to declare the whole school to be one bubble, and by our decision to hold a parents’ evening at a time when most schools feel unable to do so. He commented that the 100% attendance by parents was clear evidence that they had great confidence in our overall approach to coronavirus safety.
Although we were happy with the outcome, we will remain vigilant and sensible and maintain the approaches which brought us so many positive comments from Mr Kingston last week.
